Dr Bettina Janse Principal Veterinarian BSc., BVMS (Hons) 1997

Our principal Veterinarian is Dr Bettina Janse. Bettina graduated from Murdoch University in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery with Honours. Dr Tina started her veterinary career with a country posting which culminated in being the principal veterinarian and manager of Kalgoorlie Small Animal Hospital. Living in Kalgoorlie provided Dr Tina with a solid grounding in small animal medicine and surgery, emergency treatment and equine medicine. Upon her return to Perth she focused on small animals. Dr Tina developed a reputation as an excellent surgeon with a caring and personal service to clients. However, Dr Tina's ultimate goal was to implement her customer focused skills on her own practice and in February 2005 she succeeded in opening MalagaVet. MalagaVet is a family owned business spearheaded by Bettina's veterinary vision. Dr Tina's special interests are small animal medicine and surgery, dermatology and pathology.

 

Dr Sandy Moore

Dr sandy Moore Senior Veterinarian, BSc., BVMS 1999

Dr Sandy Moore is a 1999 Murdoch University graduate who has most recently joined the MalagaVet team. Dr Sandy and Dr Tina were students together at Murdoch University in the late 1990’s. Sandy has worked in small animal practice since graduation, bringing with her a wealth of experience gained over the last 25 years. She has a special interest in dermatology and dentistry, so you’ll often find her in the treatment area taking care of hospitalised patients in for their procedures. She is also the proud owner of Banjo the rag doll who rules the household.

 

Dr Davida Marby

Dr davida Marby Associate Veterinarian MSc. BSc., BVMS (murdoch) 2018

Dr Davida is a 2018 graduate from Murdoch University. She started her career working at Malaga in December 2019 after spending an internship year in emergency and critical care practice post graduation. Dr Davida originally hails from Sweden, having studied overseas in Europe and the US she came to Perth to study Veterinary Medicine at Murdoch in 2014. In 2020 Davida and her partner welcomed a baby boy to the family and Davida has now returned to Malaga in 2022 working part time. Dr Davida has a special interest in internal medicine and chronic pain management for her animal patients. You will see her on Mondays and Wednesdays in the consult room, and tending to surgery cases on Thursdays.

 

Dr Joanna Todd

Dr Joanna Todd BSc., BVMS (Murdoch 2018), Veterinary Nurse (Cert IV)

 Dr Jo now works part-time at MalagaVet, first joined our team in December 2011. Joanna started her journey as a vet nurse then completed her Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2018. We are proud to have always supported her in her journey from nursing to become a successful practicing veterinarian. Returning to us part time in 2024 from maternity leave Dr Jo is always bright and energetic and we love working alongside her. She brings with her the latest in veterinary anaesthesia and pain management. She has a soft spot for Staffies and is the proud owner of "Bash" a rescued Staffy Cross dog and another Staffy “JayJay”, who are both very special in a number of ways!

 

Dr Lijing Yang

Dr lijing yang - Veterinary surgeon - DVM (murdoch 2023)

Dr Lijing is our most recent veterinary team member, joining MalagaVet after graduating in 2023 with lot of enthusiasm and a willingness to learn. Lijing takes care to make her patients feel safe and sound at the vet by using stress free handling techniques wherever possible. There is never a shortage of treats in her consult room! Her kind and gentle nature makes the visit a breeze and a pleasure to be around. Originally from China, Lijing is making Australia her new forever home and has even adopted a lanky Greyhound cross dog called Otto who is a charming goofball you might sometimes see around the hospital!

Chris Hedington - Head Nurse RVN (Cert IV Veterinary Nursing, BSc. (Murdoch))

Chris Hedington is a Senior Veterinary Nurse with 25 years experience in veterinary nursing. Chris is also a graduate of Murdoch University, finishing in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science degree. She has since also completed her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing, making her a unique and very knowledgeable staff member. There is not much that Chris hasn’t seen over the years, so she can assist with any problem big or small. Chris is the proud owner of a spoiled feline friend - Rupert. She loves him dearly despite his antics and endless supply of cat hair in her house!

Lisa Stanley senior nurse - RVN (Cert IV Veterinary Nursing)

Lisa started at MalagaVet doing work experience as part of her studies in Veterinary Nursing in mid 2010.  In a short time we realised what a valuable addition to our team Lisa would be, and she commenced part-time work with us.  Lisa completed her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in December 2010 and continues to work with us in a full time role.  Lisa has a teenage daughter and a few pets of her own at home including her beloved Akita dog called Athena. Lisa has a soft spot for the large breed dogs like Rotties and Mastiffs, and loves to shower special attention on them when they visit MalagaVet.

 

 Andrew

 Andrew naismith - Veterinary Nurse RVN (Cert IV Veterinary Nursing)

Andrew qualified as an RVN in 2017, and after taking a little time to kick off his career in a practical sense he joined MalagaVet in June 2023. You’ll often catch him in reception where his client care skills take a particular shine. Andrew takes time to make genuine connections with our clients, ensuring a stress free experience with their pets. Having his own menagerie of cats and dogs with their own ailments he knows how worried a pet parent may be when their beloved is ill. His reassuring and caring nature will set you and your fur-baby at ease. Andrew also has a special interest in native fauna, and can be found spending his spare time learning more about our unique wildlife.

 

Jordarna

 Jordarna Gullo RVN (cert. IV Veterinary nursing)

Jordarna joined the MalagaVet nursing team in mid 2023 as a nurse student with AVT. She has a wonderful smile, a can-do attitude and hardworking ethic which quickly endeared her to our busy nursing team. We congratulate Jordarna on successfully completing her nursing training in September 2024, and she has joined the MalagaVet team in a full time nursing role since then. Jordarna always takes time to ensure the hospitalised patients are cared for, along with cuddling them as needed!

taylaH parker - Veterinary Nurse RVN (Cert IV Veterinary Nursing)

Having joined the team in 2024, Taylah is an experienced and skilled RVN, passionate about gold standard veterinary care. She is a team member who looks to improve on her skills. Taylah knows how stressed some pets can get coming to the vet and always goes out of her way to make things less stressful for the patients (and the pet parents!). Working with animals has always been her dream career and animal welfare is her biggest passion. We look forward to seeing where Taylah’s nursing career will take her.

 Shenae Hewett - RVN (Certificate IV veterinary nursing)

Shenae is an experienced veterinary nurse who joined the MalagaVet team in late 2024. Shenae grew up on a farm in the south west of WA so is used to dealing with a large range of pets and farm animals alike. Shenae has a calm and easygoing manner and copes well when things are busy, which is great for our patients in hospital. Shenae is keen and willing to learn new skills and we look forward to being part of her journey in the veterinary field.
